What they say about Brendas workshops for schools and young people.

What Ofsted says about Brenda:-'

The Unit employs outstanding specialist teachers in subjects such as pottery (sculpture). This enhances the curriculum for all students.'Ofsted report , Oakfields Educational Unit November 2014.

What schools, education units and parents say about Brenda:-

Brenda’s first project was something for our main entrance hall and we agreed on a tree, which the children made from tiles. Every child in the school took part in this project and they were so proud of their achievements.

We then decided to focus on 2 aspects;

  • Good quality art for all children

  • Gifted and Talented group for children from all year groups and where appropriate PPG funded

Art sessions for all children comprised of Brenda working with all year groups, in turn, to focus on an art topic linked to the class focus. The children experienced clay-work, sculpture, painting, drawing, printing and collage.

The Gifted and Talented group were children identified either by Brenda during whole class sessions or teachers during pupil progress meetings. These children were given projects, which challenged and inspired their love of art leading to some impressive school artwork, as well as encouraging artwork at home e.g. paper folding. In some cases Brenda helped children build up a portfolio of work, which could be used to apply for an Art scholarship.

Brenda was always an enthusiastic member of the school team who worked holistically with the children and helped develop their creativity.

I would recommend Brenda without hesitation.

'Brenda is a gifted artist and thrives by helping others to explore their artistic potential and develop confidence in their creative abilities. Brenda is a natural educator and worked well with large classes of school children introducing them to new crafts and celebrated their achievements on an individual level. She thinks out of the box and is creative in her approach to teaching as well as able to communicate to different audiences in ways that engage them. I would recommend Brenda to any future employer and enjoyed working with her very much.'Samantha B. Education Manager, Leeds Castle ( 2006-2010)

'Brenda is superb! The kids really enjoyed the workshops and the artwork produced was great!'

'All the children in Brenda's classes have enjoyed the work and the relaxed, safe environment in which to discover talents they never knew they had. Brenda is a gifted teacher who is able to recognise her students strengths and develop them to the full. Brenda is hugely empathetic and brings with her interests and enthusiasm for many different art forms and cultures. The children grow both artistically as well as emotionally, with ideas and influences beyond the clay and paintbrush.
